The Myer marquee is an iconic environment of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, its design pushed each year to a higher form of excellence. While working for Gloss Creative I was the lead designer on the 2015 Myer marquee, developing a three dimensional botanical collage made of digitally printed vinyl applied to die cut aluminium, paired with shiny copper tendrils and venus fly traps. The Jurassic floral enveloped the walls and marquee framing, with a subtle quirk of movement assisted by the traditionally windy Flemington Racecourse conditions. As directed by Myer, the marquee evoked a strong sense of Spring and encompassed the feeling of a botanists green house. Myer were pleased with a very successful Spring Racing Carnival, as it was one of the most ‘socially shared’ Myer marquees to date.
